Question:
Airstream Pickup Campers?I've seen a couple of these glorious-looking Aistream (or
Aistream-shaped, anyway) aluminum pickup-mounted campers going around,
usually on good-sized trucks. Does anybody have one of these or know
anything useful about them? How they're set up inside, etc?
I assume none are built anymore, and there don't even seem to be that
many around. I also assume they're too big for a compact Toyota-type
pickup.
I've been fantasizing the last few days about buying an early 15-footish
trailer and attaching it to a small 4WD pickup with the box removed. Am
I utterly insane?
Answer:
You may be legally sane but yer idea is crazy. The physical
construiction of Airstreams is such that the thing would collapse like
the Hindenberg if you cut away enuf to fit it on a pickup - or else
the p'up would do a stationary wheelie - or both.
BTW if Airstream ever made a p'up camper I don't know about it. Of
course, there is a lot of stuff I don't know!
