Question:
So far I'm pretty new to this forum. But my wife and I have recently
decided to buy a good used pop-up.Today we came across a Bonair ba
1000 trailer. Seems to be in really good shape.but here are my
concerns. is this trailer really heavy?(it sleeps 10)
is the lifting mech a good one and could my wife put it up (she is
good at stuff like this)
it is a 81' would the surge brakes stillwork and would it matter?
the chrome on the 3 burner stove is rusted, could one paint it with
bbq paint.
both bunk ends have been replaced with new canvas, with vinyl on the
roof. how do I check the hardtop and what do I need to look for in a good
one? any info would be great,we think that we will buy it (he is asking
$2500cdn for it)if wverything turns out to be good.
Answer:
I'm not familiar with the old Bonaires but one look at the new ones had me
running back to the big three (Jayco, Coleman, Starcraft). I can't believe
the salesman thought that the additional "safety" lift supports are a
selling feature.
Yep, the trailer is going to weigh a buch though your truck should pull it
fine if equiped properly.
I've stated my opinion on the Bonaire lift system :)
You'll definately need working brakes on this trailer (required by law and
common sense)
A rusty stove is no big deal. If the paint doesn't stick you can remove it
later.
Make sure you check the lift cables and the floor.
