Question:
I am currently designing and building a fold out camper trailer, the
type with the bed on top of the trailer and a large canvas tent that folds
out from on top to enclose the trailer. I am buildinig it with independant
suspension, brakes and the rest of the gear required for going 4WD'ing.
What I really want is ANY suggestions at all on how to make my trailer
better than the ones you buy on the market. So if you have used one of
these trailers and have thought to yourself that you would do something
(anything) different if you had the chance, please let me know.
If you know of any good websites on these camper trailers, esp. in
Australia, they would also be greatly appreciated.
Answer:
If you lived in the UK I was going to suggest that you buy a copy of
'Your Complete Guide to Trailers and Towing' it's published by
'Indespension' they are a UK company who specialise in trailers, trailer
parts and towing equipment etc.,
The book consists of about 200 A4 size pages, it includes various plans,
the law (UK) regarding towing, hints and tips plus a very comprehensive
parts section.
Their head office is in Bolton, Lancashire, Tel +44 01204 309797.
If you intend towing it in the 'Sticks' with a 4x4 have you considered
an ex military trailer and using the chassis to build up on?
