Question:
We know nothing about travel trailers having had a pop-up for several years.
We are now planning to buy an ultra lite travel trailer (less than 2700
pounds) and are interested in a Rockwood 21-foot ultra-lite model T2108 that
seem interesting - to us...
Does anyone have any advice to give us on what to look for in a travel
trailer and which ones we should buy and not buy?
We are towing with a Chevy Lumina minivan V-6, 3.4 litres, fully equiped for
towing, any advice?
Answer:
PLEASE read my website before you buy a travel trailer.
http://www.pathway.net/harmonicat/camping.htm There is alot of
information there and you'll see somethings that you need to know. One
thing that you need to know (that your camper dealer may not tell you)
is that you should not exceed the GCWR of your vehicle. You need to
know the GCWR of your Lumina. Chances are highly likely that you have
exceeded the GCWR just pulling your pop up. My humbly opinion is that
your Lumina minivan probably makes a good family van for the city, but
its not a tow vehicle for the highway. The marketing schemes that
ultra lite weight travel trailers can be pulled by minivans are
generally fallacies. There is a big difference between safety and road
hazzard, ability and 'built for it'. Read my other web site
