Question:
I am considering buy a Cherokee with a slideout. I not that familiar with
Forest River and I am wondering if anyone has an opinion or useful info on
Forest River or Cherokee. I have just ordered some books on rvs.
How does the Cherokee rate in the RV rating book. I waiting to recieve the
2001 edition.
Answer:
-I own a Forest River T2501 and think very highly of it. Pretty well
made for an entry-level trailer--same materials as most, but put
together better than most.
We looked at a Cherokee last weekend at an RV show. The floor gave
under my weight. I didn't go much further than that.

Answer: Not sure; I don't get it. My point is that if they scrimp on the
floor material, what else might be scrimped on?
They may be a wonderful RV with poor floors; like I said, I think very
highly of my Forest River. I just like my floors a bit sturdier.
IIRC, the fit/finish was about what I expect in an entry level
box--take it home and finish the work yourself. On mine (bought 1
year old) I had to go around every window and other penetration and
the wall seams, trim of the excess putty tape, and go over it with a
thin bead of silicone. In a few places, the plumbing/wiring needed to
be properly secured. Put a surge protector on the microwave. Plan on
several days of work--none of it difficult or expensive, just time
consuming. My assumption is that this is one of the ways the hold
down costs, since all the HR and Monacos I've looked at don't need
this treatment.
