Question:
I recently aquired an old 14' Hi-Lo (bon voyage) pop up camper trailer. It
is good shape over all but I'm not sure what type of mechanism raises the
trailer. I have found the switch and a place for a battery. There is also a
large air tank under the front seat. Does anyone know if the top is raised
by air pressure from the tank?
There is an electric pump in the battery compartment but it doesnt function
(so far) and it looks more like a hydralic pump. I havent had the time to
inspect it closely yet but I was hoping maybe somebody out there had some
experience with this type of trailer, and could save me a little time.
If you have any advise please write me directly as my online time is fairly
limited..
Answer:
Hi'lo's are raised by a pulley system using cables - you need the battery or
to be plugged into a vehicle 12v to make roof rise - if the vehicle has a
power converter, you can plug it into 110 power to do the same - my bet is
the large metal tank under the seat is a cold water tank -the older systems
used what they called a pressure system - the hose pressure would move the
water, or you could stop and put air in at a gas station
