Question:
I'm looking at buying an off-road camper(tent) trailer. I've found that just about all off-road trailers built in WA have a 9 leaf spring suspension system, whereas the Cavalier (built somewhere in the east) has a 7 leaf spring suspension. However, I'm considering the Cavalier for other reasons.
Will the difference between a 7 leaf spring and a 9 leaf spring be of any significance when the trailer is taken over rough tracks?
Answer:
well, I the number of leafs will affect the hight of the trailer, and probably the stiffness or ride a bit. More important is how the springs are attached, I found a lot of trailer manufactures would put the correct leaf suspension bush on the front, but leave the rear of the leaf riding on the chassis. This setup will provide limited life on an serious off-road.
I bought a basic off road trailer made from:

I cant speak highly enough of the trailer, its already been taken up the far north of qld, and is still in as new condition.
but this is a IMHO, im sure there are other ppl with far more experience in such matters than me.
