Question:
I'm gathering *nonbiased* opinions regarding pop up campers. If you
have
experience with multiple makes (Coleman, Viking, Rockwood, Starcraft
etc.) please fire away and let me know what pros and cons you have
encountered.
Answer:
We have a 99 Jayco 12UDK. Mark was correct when he mentioned a good
dealer can make a big difference in a "happy camper". You also need to
research and determine how much you can tow. We researched most every
brand of pop-up which had a dealer within a couple of hours drive of our
house both on the internet and visited their showrooms and went to
several rv shows. We found the Jayco had a floorplan best suited for
us. We have had it going on three years now and have not regretted it
once. Coleman makes a nice product but they also carry a nice price tag
and are heavier to tow. If we had purchased a Coleman we would have had
to travel to Atlanta to buy from the dealer there because the
Chattanooga dealer is not a company I would want to deal with...but
that's another story. Every time we looked at another brand or
floorplan, we always came back to the camper we bought as being the best
choice for us, taking into account the dealer (Jayco dealer was in town
and we really liked everyone who worked there) tow weights, floorplans
etc.
It all boils down to what is best for your family and who you feel
comfortable dealing with.
