Question:
, I'm considering buying a used pop-up tent camper. I'd like to hear your
experiences with these campers.
1. How are they in the rain? I'd hate to cut a trip short because the
weather goes south.
2 If they do get wet, is there a mold problem?
3 Wind. Are these things hardy enough for a stiff wind storm, say 40mph or
so?
4 Any advice at all on what I should look for when sizing up a used pop-up
would really be appreciated.
Answer:
I've rented several tent trailers and used them for weeklong+ camping trips.
Each time, I've encountered strong winds and some horrendous rains. At no
point was there any leakage ( and these were all *used* trailers, Viking
brand mostly ) through the roof vents, windows, or vinyl. I used the rear
stabilizers only. Mold is not much of a problem where I live. The trailers
always dried out the next day so not much chance for mold or mildew. Never
had an ounce of trouble.
