Question:
I can't find a rental company that will allow me to pull my own tent
trailer. I have tried with Budget/Uhaul/Toyota, and they all say they
won't allow it.
Anyone heard of a place to rent a truck/SUV that you could pull your
trailer with?
Answer:
-I fail to see how they could stop you. Just don't mention
you are going to tow. May not be proper but I can't see any
way you could hurt a rental unit. If you have insurance
covering the trailer and a personal vehicle, it would seem
that insurance would cover a rental unit as well. Plus, if
you rent a vehicle with a tow package, meaning it has a
receiver on the rear, it will have all the equipment needed
to tow any popup. That would include plugging a brake
controller into the wiring system.
What I don't get is, how could you have a tent trailer
without having a tow vehicle? That doesn't compute.
-Well I had a van I was towing with that blew a headgasket and I wanted
a Camry as 98% of my driving is commuting anyway. But I had this nice
pop-up trailer and thought I could easily rent a 4-runner to pull it..
Nope not even.. No reciever or light hook-up on the rentals I've seen.
Yes Uhaul has a reciver on ther 24ton moving van, but not goin' take
that to the campground. And I wouldn't care about the insurance too
much if I could hook-up and go and don't tell them, but without a
reciever ? Thanks for all the posts...I'm still looking for an answer.
I may have to sell my trailer...
