Question:
i have been looking for a low cost pop-up camper and have been
considering the tracker 8TS and the jayco quest 8U. the price
i have been getting for these models is up around $3700-$3800
and i was really wanting to stay down closer to $3500 before tax.
i spoke to a dealer by phone who said he could put me in a
"rockwood" eight foot unit for $3395 + tax. this seems like a
really good price but i have never heard of rockwood. could
someone please advise me on the quality of this camper or
if i should check into something else in the $3500 price range.
Answer:
-I just sold a 1992 Rockwood XL that I has for about 5 years. I
loved it. Did not have any problems with any part of the camper.
The only reason I sold it was to get a newer pop-up with a slide
out and air conditioning. I would have got another Rockwook, but
they didn't offer the slide-out we liked. You can't go wrong
with the Rockwood.
-Ditto on the Rockwood. My husband and I have a '95 Rockwood 1908. We have had
great camping trips in it. Ours has a heater and a refrigerator and sleeps six.
The feature that we like the best is that the table on one side is completely
free standing and the smaller table on the other side has a pole that locks
into the floor but can be removed. The seat for that table is a u-shaped bench
seat so we don't feel cramped in. We were also luck enough to find a portable
stand for the smaller table and can also use that table outside.
Good luck in pop-up shopping.
