Question:
Just bought a 1999 Coleman Taos. It is a folding tent trailer...the
smallest version. Sleeps 6. No refrigerator...just a built in ice chest and a
porta potti. It has a 20lb. propane tank and 12 volt battery. Now, having
only "tent" camped in my life, I am not sure what category it falls into for
campgrounds. Can we use this in a "tent" only campground..since it has no
generator? Or, are we now only supposed to put it in an "rv" spot?
Answer:
-If you don't want the hook-ups (electricity and water), then you can use
the tent spaces. It's a Tent Trailer. I've never been told I had to move
because I was in the wrong section. Besides, my little pop-up looks mighty
funny parked next to some of those huge Winnebagos!
-You are right. In the park I work in the sites are not grass covered. We
are flexible contingent on site availability. Usually there is no problem
putting a small pop-up on a tent site so long as there is no obvious
appearance of an "owercrowded" site or safety issue. We do insist the pop
up stay on the camping pad as not to disturb natural ground cover. However
if you are not familiar with the park, call and ask or be prepared to take
an RV or trailer site.
