Question:
Since updating my Colorful Tabs extension - which I love - I have been
getting a delay, or lag, of about a second when clicking on tabs. From
the time I click on a tab to change to that tab, there is a big lagtime
before FF actually changes to that tab.
I've eliminated all other extensions, and it seems to be the latest
version of Colorful Tabs. Now I also have Tab Mix Plus, but I can't
seem to elicit the problem as a clash between the two extensions. It's
ONLY when Colorful Tabs is active. To confirm, I've uninstalled the
latest version (v2.0.1) and re-installed the previous version (v1.9) and
the lag has disappeared. So it definitely seems to be this extension.
If anyone else is using that extension, and has noticed the delay (?tab-lag, to
coin a phrase) then this may be your answer.
Answer:
Question: use both of those extensions and just tested it. I don't see the lag
you're describing and my tab switching is almost instantaneous. Did you
create a new profile and install the two to see if the problem still exists?
Answer: Yup - and that was after disabling ALL my extensions in my original
profile first, then re-enebling them one by one. Just finished
experimenting with the new profile between posting the original post,
and now.
Definitely does it here - machines are both Dell laptops - one an
Inspiron 9400, the other a Latitude 420. Both running Centrino Duos. I
wouldn't have thought that lack of CPU power would be a problem.
When I installed only Colorful tabs in a new profile, v1.9 did NOT cause
a lag, but when I updated it to v2.0.1, the lag was there. Tab Mix Plus
also causes a slight lag, but it is VERY slight - just perceptible - on
its own. Not a problem. But Colorful Tabs' lag is between half and one
second every time. Only when changing from one tab to another already-
open tab.
Totally reproducible here, and also reproducible is the fact that when I
install the previous version, there is no lag, and when I change it to
the newer version, the lag is back.
