Question:
I'm in Ontario and my husband and I thinking about hauling out tent trailer
to Nova Scotia for a couple of weeks starting September 20th.
I've done some surfing in search of campgrounds but not being familiar with
the climates around N.S. at that time of year, am wondering if anyone can
provide some links to what might be considered to be the best places to
stay.
Answer:
Its been a few years since I been to the provincial parks around
Halifax/Dartmouth so don't quote me on this...but you should check because I
do think that the Provincial Parks close after Labour Day...I do know of one
campground that I spent every summer at and it is beautiful and last I was
there it stays open until sometime in October...its a private run
campground...and it is about an hour and half from Halifax in a place called
Greenfield which is just outside Bridgewater...its pretty easy to get
to...follow the highway from Halifax towards Yarmouth/South Shore...if I
remember right it is Exit 13 off the highway and turn right...the campground
is called Ponhook Lodge...has two big lakes, boating, playgrounds,
recreation hall, full service and tent sites, canteen/store, laundry,
showers, some boat rentals, even has some cottages that are rented in the
park...it was my second home for many years...I don't know the url but I
know they have a website...do a google search on Ponhook Lodge ....there
are lots of beautiful campgrounds around and I am sure others can tell you
more...good luck and have a safe trip...the weather to me this year is
pretty unpredictable and unusual...so bring lots of sweatshirts...lol...have
a great and safe trip no matter where you choose
