Question:
I have just purchased an old Aliner that is in very good condition. The
trouble is that I do not know what year it is or where I can find
restoration parts. Here's some details:
Corrugated steel (and/or aluminum) construction with no insulation at
all in the roof.
The colour is gold with a robin's egg blue roof.
It contains a cooler, sink, propane stovetop and 2 beds. One bed
converts to a table.
There is only a 110v electrical system - no battery. No lights.
The front and rear ends both swing up. This inludes the entire front and
rear panels which are hinged at the bottom. This is very different from
current models.
The manufacturer's stickers indicate that it is a Chalet manufactured in
Alberta, Canada.
My best guess would place this camper in the 60's to 70's era
This camper is in great shape but is very dirty. I plan to gut the
inside to repanel and recover the floor. New upholstry is a must.
Otherwise it looks like this RV has sat in someone's back yard for many
years.
I would appreciate any info - websites etc. about this RV. I'd like to
make it nice again. It would also be nice to place the age of my RV.
By the way. Yes, I picked it up cheap.
Answer:
-when I was looking for a chalet or an aliner a couple of months ago
I stumbled across a few good web sites unfortunately I have now removed them
from my favourites so don't have the addresses to pass along however - the
aliner site was the best - and people there, as here, had lots of
information but their was specific to Aliners - I had to really search for
the site but found it through google.
-It sounds like you have a Chalet which is different manufacturer than
Aliner, although designs are similar. I'd start with the google forum at:
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/alinerchaleta-frames/
They also have links to a few other sites including the Chalet club and
the Aliner club. On parts, a lot of stuff in my Aliner are industry
standard parts and available at many RV dealers' parts department. If
it is something special, you might try contacting Chalet directly for
information at:
http://www.chaletrv.com/
Good luck and hope you enjoy the camper.
